Burntshirt Wines are 100% Estate Grown & Produced. Mountain lore has it that back in the day farmers would burn their fields to clear the land on Burntshirt Mountain for planting. They tossed their shirts in the fire for good luck and the fields yielded a bountiful crop! The legend lives on to this day on the majestic land that is now Burntshirt Vineyards. Burntshirt Vineyards occupies a unique position with two vineyards situated on both sides of the Eastern Continental Divide at some of highest elevations on the East Coast. A total of 27 acres of vineyards were first planted in 2009 in this magical area of the Blue Ridge Province of the Appalachian Mountains with a combination of 19 European varietals and French-American hybrids. Long sunny days and cool nights coupled with sandy loam and rocky soils allow numerous grape varieties to thrive at this altitude. Our grape growing practices are innovative and responsible. We limit the yield resulting in higher quality.

Produced from 100% Henderson County apples, Burntshirt Vineyards Apple Wine presents aromatics of fresh apple that give way to bright fruit and a tart finish, reminiscent of biting into a fresh apple.
Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this highly aromatic and crisp chardonnay has flavors of ripe apple and pear, with a hints of lime zest. It pairs well with all types of food but especially good with pasta and seafood dishes.
Our signature white! Burntshirt Vineyards Grüner Veltliner is a light, refreshing white wine with a nose of melon and lemongrass. It dances on your palate and pairs well with lighter fare, especially salads, fish and chicken.
O Cellars Reserve Chardonnay
Handpicked grapes from our best lots of Chardonnay in the vineyard are fermented and aged in new French oak barrels for 10 months. Very soft and complex with flavors of crème brulee, tangerine, and a touch of sweet oak. Pair with chicken breast, pork loin, semi-soft cows cheese, and any seafood dish.
Sunset Sippin’ is a refreshing reward when the day draws to an end. Its tempting floral and tropical fruit aromas along with bright citrus flavors highlight this luscious sweet wine.
Altitude 3400 Red Table Wine
Burntshirt Vineyards Altitude 3400 Red Table Wine is our red wine blend that is an elegant mingling of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Chambourcin that harmonizes with all types of savory food from pasta to steak.
Burntshirt Vineyards Merlot is a smooth, rounded easy drinking wine with flavors of plums and black cherry. It is a perfect match for beef and red sauced pasta dishes and is also an excellent complement to chocolate.
Villa Rosa, our sweet red is a light and easy drinking table wine. Chambourcin gets its unique characteristics by being one of few wines to have a pink/red pulp, as opposed to clear like most vitis vinifera cultivars, and light skin contact to allow for a lighter and fruity style. A wonderful compliment to North Carolina BBQ and other classic grilling fare.
Our Estate Rosé marries flavors of strawberry and raspberry with a touch of honey. A great sipping wine on its own, it also complements both sweet and savory dishes.
Burntshirt Vineyards Riesling is a fruity, semi-sweet wine loaded with tropical fruit, bananas, and Fuji apples with hints of cinnamon and allspice. Nice to pair with spicy foods from Classic Reuben sandwiches to Asian fare.
This dessert wine is produced from late harvest Petit Manseng, blended with small amounts of Traminette and Riesling. This varietal produces beautiful floral and ripe peach aromas that follow through with flavors of honey and melon; a wine this decadent is best paired with rich desserts and enjoyed one sip at a time.
